What is Praktyka?

Praktyka is an eco-retreat offering holiday accomodation and art workshops. We are now taking bookings for our new space ‘The Heartwood.’ With two more spaces coming very soon.

 

What workshops can I do?

You can join Ania in her studio for a jewellery making workshop. No experience required, Ania will guide you through the process to create your own unique piece.

What do I need to bring with me for my stay?

When you make your booking we will send you a full handbook for the accommodation and local area.

A few useful things to bring include:

  • Towels

  • Torch

  • Walking boots & wellies / waterproof shoes.

  • Wooly hat for sitting by the fire

  • Waterproofs - jacket & trousers

  • Swimming costume

  • Books

  • Suncream

  • Sunglasses

  • Thermos

  • Hand Sanitizer

  • Face Mask

 

What are the kitchen facilities like?

Each space is fully equipped with everything you should need - please visit the accomodation listing for the full details.

Please bring with you any condiments you may require - salt, pepper, olive oil, chilli sauce etc.

We are in North Devon, just outside the little village of Buckland Brewer. Click here for a map.

By Car: Please use the postcode above to find us, this will take you to our neighbours ‘Bearah’ we are the next property up the hill on the left. You will see ‘Thorne Farm’ on the gate. 


 

What are the accomodation options?

The Artist Barn sleeps up to four with two bedrooms, a large living room and large bathroom.

The Heartwood dome sleeps up to four.

In late 2023 a new 2 person cabin will be launched.

Each space has its own facilities, hidden corners and wildlife gardens.

 

Can I bring my pet?

Sadly not, we are a small site and have our own pet cat who lives here.

 

Where is the nearest shop?

The amazing Buckland Brewer Community Shop sells local produce and your basics is open Monday to Friday 9am - 3.30pm.

Asda & Lidl are the nearest supermarkets in Bideford.

How far is it to the sea?

Roughly 15mins by car and about 2hrs along ancient footpaths by foot.

 

Is there wi-fi?

Only the barn has wi-fi. We are on the top of the hill so there is strong mobile & 4G signal.

 

What are your favourite local recomendations?

Swim - Low tide at Bucks Mills or the sea pool in Bude.

Food - Sunday roast at the Farmers Arms, Woolsery.

Walk - From Stoke down to Hartland Quay.

Museum - Surfing museum in Braunton.

Gallery - The Burton in Bideford.

Cafe - The Glorious Oyster in Instow.

Gardens - Tapeley Park in Instow.

Bike - The Tarka Trail - Puffing Billy to Instow.
